Traditional Worship
There are numerous patterns of worship within the United Methodist Church. Since we are a global denomination, we have borrowed from many traditions. Having been birthed from within the Anglican Church, the Methodists have had a history of liturgical worship; thus, we have borrowed from the liturical traditions and have incorporated a "pioneer" spirit which resonates throughout our worship experiences.
We build our Traditional service around the Adoration of God (processional with cross and flame and songs of praise), Confession to God (prayers and silence), Thanksgiving to God (anthems and offerings), Proclamation of the Word (preaching and testimony), and the opportunity to commit to God in dedication, devotion, and service. We offer services throughout the Christian year with observances of Advent, Christmastide, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and Pentecost. Services of healing and Holy Communion (The Lord"s Supper) are strong components of our worship experience. Our tradition is an "open" communion welcoming all to the Table of the Lord. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month as well as the Holy Days of Ash Wednesday, Maunday Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
We use many of the traditional Creeds and incorporate litanies and prayers belonging to the history of the Church through the ages.
The Traditional services focus on hearing and honoring Scripture, following the leading of the Holy Spirit, and celebrating the grace of God. The services are always "come as you are."
The Connection
In The Connection we seek to create an environment where
you can come as you are, experience God, and have relevant Bible teaching that
speaks to your everyday life. We want worship to be as engaging as possible, to
help you know Jesus Christ and become more fully committed to him. We use the
best of the new and the old, the sacred and the secular to help us as a
community to connect with God. Each Sunday is different and you are invited to
check us out at 8:30am in the gym!
